Cold winters with dry indoor heating air and sharp wind are one of the most common causes of skin barrier damage. In practice, this means a winter routine should be simpler and gentler than a summer one: a mild, low-pH cleanser, one targeted serum, and a richer moisturiser that locks in hydration.
The basic order is cleanser, serum, moisturiser, and sun protection in the morning. Choose a serum for a specific concern: niacinamide helps with uneven tone and enlarged pores, hyaluronic acid adds hydration, vitamin C targets pigmentation, and retinol is an evening product introduced gradually — twice a week at first, increasing slowly.
